Battery Voltage Low

⚠️WARNING

The DC control battery voltage has dropped below the minimum operating threshold. Low battery voltage can prevent reliable engine starting and may cause controller malfunction.

🔍 Possible Causes

  • •Battery aging/failure
  • •Battery charger malfunction
  • •Excessive parasitic loads
  • •Corroded battery connections
  • •Alternator/charging system failure
  • •Battery not sized for application

🔧 Troubleshooting Steps

  1. 1Measure battery voltage with digital multimeter
  2. 2Check battery charger output
  3. 3Inspect battery terminals for corrosion
  4. 4Load test batteries
  5. 5Verify charging alternator output
  6. 6Check for excessive DC loads

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What voltage should generator starting batteries maintain?

For 24V systems, batteries should maintain 25-28V float charge. For 12V systems, 13-14V. During cranking, voltage should not drop below 18V (24V system) or 9V (12V system).

How often should generator batteries be replaced?

Lead-acid starting batteries typically last 3-5 years. Perform annual load testing and replace when capacity drops below 80% of rated. AGM batteries may last longer.

Full diagnostic guide

COMAP-A050 tells you where to start. These tell you what to do next.

A fault code names a symptom, not a cause. Our engineers have written the diagnostic sequence they use on site for this class of fault — ranked causes, ordered steps with the reading expected at each one, and the point at which to stop and call someone.
