Aftertreatment DEF Tank Level Low
Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF/AdBlue) tank level is below minimum. For Tier 4 Final emissions compliance, adequate DEF is required. Engine derate or shutdown will occur if DEF is not replenished.

DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is a urea solution sprayed into the exhaust to reduce NOx emissions. Required on Tier 4 Final engines. Also called AdBlue in some regions.
The engine will progressively derate power, eventually limiting to a maximum of 25% power or 5 MPH. Eventually it may prevent restart. Always maintain DEF level.

A fault code names a symptom, not a cause. Our engineers have written the diagnostic sequence they use on site for this class of fault — ranked causes, ordered steps with the reading expected at each one, and the point at which to stop and call someone.
